Let \(\sigma\) be the Lebesgue measure on the sphere \(\Sigma_{n-1}\). For functions \(f_1,\dots ,f_n\) on \({\mathbb R}\), define \[ T(f_1,\dots ,f_n)(x)=\int_{\Sigma_{n-1}}f_1(x-\sigma_1)\dots f_n(x- \sigma_n)d\sigma, \;x\in {\mathbb R}. \] \textit{D. Oberlin} [ Trans. Am. Math. Soc. 310, No. 2, 821-835 (1988; Zbl 0713.42012)] introduced a region \(R\) such that the inequality \[ \| T(f_1,\dots ,f_n)\|_q\leq C\| f_1\|_p\dots \| f_n\|_p \] is valid if \((1/p,1/q)\) is an interior point of \(R\), and not valid if it is an exterior point. The authors prove that the inequality is valid for the boundary points of the region in the case \(n>2\), and is not necessarily valid for the boundary points in the case \(n=2\).
