    The (symmetric) operators are formally defined by \[ A_0u = \sum _{| \alpha| , | \beta| \leq m} (-1)^{| \alpha| } D^\beta (a_{\alpha, \beta}(x) D^\alpha u(x)) \] (usual multiindex notation) with measurable a.e.\ bounded coefficients. The leading coefficients satisfy \[ \sum_{| \alpha| , | \beta| = m} a_{\alpha, \beta}(x) \xi^\alpha \overline{\xi^\beta} \geq \begin{cases} \mu | \xi| ^{2m} &\text{sum over constant }a_{\alpha, \beta}\;(\mu > 0) , \\ 0 & \text{sum over nonconstant }a_{\alpha, \beta}(x).\end{cases} \] It was shown by E. B. Davies that \(A_0\) defines a selfadjoint operator \(A\) in \(L^2\) bounded below (thus \(-A\) generates an analytic semigroup with angle \(\pi/2\)) with no smoothness conditions on the leading coefficients. The author shows that \(A\) generates an integrated semigroup in weighted \(L^p\) spaces \(L^{\alpha, p}\) and in the spaces \(\ell^p (L^{\alpha, q})\).
