Kernels of Toeplitz operators (Q1074838): Difference between revisions

For \(\phi \in L^{\infty}(d\theta /2\pi)\), a Toeplitz opertor \(T_{\phi}\) on a Hardy space \(H^ p\) \((0<p\leq \infty)\) is defined and it is determined under what conditions the kernel of \(T_{\phi}\) is finite dimensional. For this purpose, the author uses special outer functions which are called p-strong outer functions. For \(p=2\) this was shown independently by \textit{E. Hayashi} [Proc. Am. Math. Soc. 93, 690-696 (1985; Zbl 0565.30031)]. The present author applies his result to describe the intersection of past and future of a stationary stochastic process in the case where the intersection is finite dimensional.
