Let \(X\) be a projective variety with ``good'' \(K_X\) and \(L\in\text{Pic}(X)\). It is very important to know when \(K_X+mL\) is base point free or very ample. Here the author uses a technique due to Ein and Lazarsfeld to extend Ein-Lazarsfeld's theorems to singular 3-folds and prove the following result: Theorem. Let \(X\) be a normal projective 3-fold, \(D\) an effective \(\mathbb{Q}\)-divisor, \(L\in\text{Pic}(X)\) and \(a\in\mathbb{Q}\), \(a>0\). Assume either that \((X,D)\) has weak log-terminal singularities, \(X\) is \(\mathbb{Q}\)-factorial and \(aL-(K_X+D)\) is ample or that \((X,D)\) has log-terminal singularities and \(aL- (K_X+D)\) is nef and big. Then for all integers \(n>a +11/2\) the line bundle \(nL\) is base point free.
