The author constructs cubature rules with the smallest number of nodes among all cubature rules of the same precision. Those cubature rules have the degree \(4n-1\) for the corresponding weight functions on \(\left[-1,1\right] \times \left[-1,1\right]\). The Theorem 4.2 gives the minimal cubature rule and then it shows that the nodes of this rule and the node of the Gaussian cubature rule of degree \(2n-1\) on \(\left[-1,1\right]\times \left[-1,1\right]\) are related. In the 5th and 6th part, the author gives a direct construction for the Lagrange interpolation and Gaussian cubature rules, showing the relation between them and the minimal cubature rule.
