In a former paper \textit{K. Sakamoto} showed [see Tohoku Math. J., II. Ser. 29, 25-56 (1977; Zbl 0357.53035)]: If M is a submanifold of a real space form \(\tilde M\), then the following assertions are equivalent: (i) M is nonzero isotropic and has parallel second fundamental form; (ii) every geodesic in M is a circle in \(\tilde M\). In the paper under review the authors investigate these conditions in other ambient spaces \(\tilde M\). They prove: (i) always implies (ii); and (ii)\(\Rightarrow(i)\) is true if \(\tilde M\) is a complex space form and M a CR-submanifold.
