Let \(G\) be a symplectic group or an orthogonal group over a local non-archimedean field \(F\) of characteristic zero. Consider the local gamma factor \(\gamma (\pi, \chi, s, \psi)\), associated with an irreducible admissible representation \(\pi\) of \(G\), \(\chi\) is a character of \(F^\ast\), and \(\psi\) is a fixed non-trivial character of \(F\), by the doubling method of Piatetski-Shapiro and Rallis [\textit{I. Piatetski-Shapiro} and \textit{S. Rallis}, Proc. Natl. Acad. Sci. USA 83, 4589--4593 (1986; Zbl 0599.12012)]. It is proved that a given local gamma factor is stable for sufficiently ramified characters \(\chi\).
