An algorithm for solving an inverse problem in elastostatics is developed. In this problem, the location and shape of the cavity are unknown. Instead, extra experimental data are provided at several internal points in the structure. Through an iterative process, the unknown boundary is determined by using the boundary element method coupled with nonlinear optimization technique.
