The author discusses the application of implicit-explicit (IMEX) Runge-Kutta (RK) schemes for the solution of delay differential equations. Thus, the linear part of the operator of the right-hand side which is commonly associated with the spatial semi-discretization of a partial differential operator is treated by an implicit Runge-Kutta method, while the nonlinear delay-part is approximated by an explicit scheme. The concept of \(P\)-stability is introduced and characterized, and the \(P\)-stability regions for several IMEX RK methods are illustrated by a newly proposed numerical procedure.
