This is a study on a version of the porous medium equation involving nonlocal operators for pressure function \(u_t=\nabla\cdot(u^{m-1}\nabla(-\Delta)^{-s}u)\) when \(0< s< 1\) and \(m>1\), considered in the whole space \({\mathbb R}^n\). The main results include a construction of nonnegative weak solutions with integrable initial data, extended to the initial data being finite measures, conservation of total mass property, energy estimates, as well as finite propagation speed for \(m\ge 2\). The approximation of weak solutions is made in a four step procedure and subtle compactness arguments are used when passing to the limit.
