In the impressive paper under review, the author studies completely multiplicative functions \(f\) with values in the unit disc \(\{z\in\mathbb{C}~:~|z|\leq 1\}\) and admitting the assumption \[ \left|\sum_{n\leq x}f(n)\right|\leq\frac{x(\log Q)^{A-2}}{(\log x)^A}\qquad(x\geq Q), \] for some \(A\geq 2\) and \(Q\geq 3\). Among several results, the author proves that with the above mentioned conditions, either \(f\) pretends to be \(\mu(n)n^{it}\) for some \(t\) or \(f(p)\) is \(0\) on average.
