The authors study relations among the correlators of the topological sigma-model coupled to gravity. A beautiful recursive formula for these correlators is obtained, and some deep corollaries are proved. Let \(V\) be a smooth projective variety, and \(\beta \in H_2(V;\mathbb{Z})\). Let \({ \overline M}_{g,n}(V, \beta)\) be the moduli stack of stable maps from genus-\(g\) curves with \(n\) marked points to \(V\), and let \(L_{i; g,n}(V, \beta)\) (\(1 \leq i \leq n\)) be the line bundle (over \({\overline M}_{g,n}(V, \beta)\)) whose fiber over a point \([(C; x_1, \ldots, x_n, f: C \to V)]\) is \(T_{x_i}^*C\). Let \(\overline{M}_{g,n}\) be the moduli stack of genus-\(g\) stable curves with \(n\) marked points, and let \(L_i\) (\(1 \leq i \leq n\)) be the respective line bundle over \(\overline{M}_{g,n}\). Let \(\psi_i = c_1(L_{i; g,n}(V, \beta))\) and \(\phi_i= \text{st}^*(c_1(L_i))\) where \(\text{st}\colon \overline{M}_{g,n}(V, \beta) \to \overline{M}_{g,n}\) is the natural forgetful map. Let \(\text{ev}_i: \overline{M}_{g,n}(V, \beta) \to V\) be the \(i\)-th evaluation map. Fix nonnegative integers \(d_1, e_1, \ldots, d_n, e_n\) and cohomology classes \(\gamma_1, \ldots, \gamma_n\) in \(H^*(V; \mathbb{Z})\). The authors define \textit{the generalized correlator} \(\langle \tau_{d_1, e_1}\gamma_1 \ldots \tau_{d_n, e_n}\gamma_n\rangle _{g,\beta}\) to be the integral of \(\psi_1^{d_1}\phi_1^{e_1} \cup \text{ev}_1^*(\gamma_1) \cup \ldots \cup \psi_n^{d_n}\phi_n^{e_n} \cup \text{ev}_n^*(\gamma_n)\) over the virtual fundamental class \(J_{g,n}(V, \beta)\) of \(\overline{M}_{g,n}(V, \beta)\). This extends \textit{the modified correlator} \(\langle \tau_{0, e_1}\gamma_1 \ldots \tau_{0, e_n}\gamma_n\rangle _{g,\beta}\) introduced by Y. Ruan and G. Tian and \textit{the conventional correlator} \(\langle \tau_{d_1, 0}\gamma_1 \ldots \tau_{d_n, 0}\gamma_n\rangle _{g,\beta}\). First of all, for the generalized correlators \(\langle \tau_{d_1, e_1}\gamma_1 \ldots \tau_{d_n, e_n}\gamma_n\rangle _{g,\beta}\), the authors prove a recursive formula. This formula reduces the generalized correlators to those with \(\beta=0\), the conventional correlators, and the modified correlators. -- Next, using this formula, the authors show that the gravitational potential formed from the conventional correlators is transformed by a linear change of coordinates of the big phase space to the gravitational potential formed from the modified correlators. Finally, the authors extend these formalisms from quantum cohomology to the more general Frobenius manifolds and the cohomological field theories.
