For a strict pseudocontraction \(T\) of a uniformly smooth and uniformly convex real Banach space, the authors define an iteration, by means of a real sequence from interval \([0 , 1]\), satisfying some conditions. It is proved that this iteration converges weakly to a fixed point of the strict pseudocontraction \(T\). This result is extends to a finite family of strict pseudocontractions, in the sense that the sequence of iterations converge weakly to a common fixed point of the family of strict pseudocontractions. The theorems proved in this paper extend the results of, among others, \textit{G.\,Marino} and \textit{H.\,K.\thinspace Xu} [J.~Math.\ Anal.\ Appl.\ 329, No.\,1, 336--346 (2007; Zbl 1116.47053)]; \textit{M.\,O.\thinspace Osilike} and \textit{A.\,Udomene} [J.~Math.\ Anal.\ Appl.\ 256, No.\,2, 431--445 (2001; Zbl 1009.47067)].
