A ring is called \textit{semi-clean} provided every element is a sum of a unit and a periodic element (a periodic element means an element \(x\) such that \(x^n = x^m\) for some two distinct positive integers \(n\) and \(m\)). It was proved in [\textit{L. Klingler} et al., J. Pure Appl. Algebra 225, No. 11, Article ID 106744, 5 p. (2021; Zbl 1462.16025)] that each group ring of a torsion abelian group over a commutative local ring is always a semi-clean ring and, moreover, it was asked there whether any group ring of a torsion abelian group over a commutative clean ring is a semi-clean ring as well as whether any group ring of a torsion abelian group over a commutative semi-clean ring is a semi-clean ring. In the paper under review, the author gives a positive answer to the first question and a negative answer to the second question (see Theorems 1.2 and 1.3, respectively).
