In this paper approximants to functions \(f(s)\) that are allowed to process infinite limits on their interval of definition, are constructed. A compactification of \(\mathbb{R}^n\) is developed which is based on the projection of \(\mathbb{R}^n\) on a bowl-shaped subset of a parabolic surface. The compactification includes a bijection and a metric with some properties that make it to be a useful tool for rational approximation of unbounded functions. Extensions of Weierstrass approximation theorem and Fourier type theorems have been obtained. Roughly speaking the result states that unbounded periodic functions can be approximated by quotients of certain trigonometric sums. Besides the tool of compactification the author also employ Bernstein polynomials and Cesàro means of trigonometric sums.
