Let \(\mathcal A\) and \(\mathcal B\) be two Banach algebras and let \(T: \mathcal A \to \mathcal B\) be a Banach algebra homomorphism. Let \(a \in \mathcal A\). (i) \(a\) is said to be Fredholm if \(Ta\) is invertible in \(B\). (ii) \(a\) is said to be Weyl if it is the sum of an invertible element \(c\) of \(\mathcal A\) and an element \(d\) of the kernel of \(T\). If, moreover, \(c\) and \(d\) commute, \(a\) is said to be Browder. These notions have been introduced and studied by \textit{R. Harte} [Math. Z. 179, 431--436 (1982; Zbl 0479.47032)]. More results can be found in [\textit{T. Mouton} and \textit{H. Raubenheimer}, Proc. R. Ir. Acad., Sect. A 93, No. 1, 17--25 (1993; Zbl 0790.46037)]. In analogy with the B-Fredholm theory in Banach spaces (see [\textit{M. Berkani}, Integral Equations Oper. Theory 34, No. 2, 244--249 (1999; Zbl 0939.47010)]), the authors of the present paper introduce B-Fredholm elements in the Banach algebra \(\mathcal A\) relative to the homomorphism \(T\). Thus \(a\) is said to be B-Fredholm if \(Ta\) is Drazin invertible in \(B\). On the other hand, \(a\) is said to be B-Weyl if it is the sum of a Drazin invertible element \(d\) of \(\mathcal A\) and an element \(c\) of the kernel of \(T\). In the case where \(c\) and \(d\) commute, \(a\) is said to be B-Browder. The generalized notions (generalized B-Fredholm (resp., B-Weyl, B-Browder) elements of \(\mathcal A\) with respect to \(T\)) are also defined, and the corresponding spectra are considered. The main properties of those new concepts are investigated, and some perturbation properties are discussed.
