The star partial order \(A \underset{*}{\leq} B\) is defined by \(A^*A=A^*B\) and \(AA^*=BA^*\), where \(A, B\) are elements of the algebra \(B(H)\) of all bounded linear operators on a Hilbert space \(H\). \textit{M. P. Drazin} [Bull. Am. Math. Soc. 84, 139--141 (1978; Zbl 0395.20044)] gave a characterization of this order in terms of the Moore-Penrose inverse within the framework of matrices. Inspired by a work of \textit{P. Šemrl} [J. Math. Anal. Appl. 369, No. 1, 205--213 (2010; Zbl 1195.47027)], the authors present an equivalent definition of the star partial order on \(B(H)\) by using selfadjoint idempotent operators. They study some properties of the generalized concept of order relations on \(B(H)\) as well.
