The well-known previous results of the author for the 2D water wave equation are utilized to study the 3D case, by using the Clifford analysis. In this paper, three difficulties are overcomed: the non-availability of the Riemann mapping; the non-commutativity of the Clifford numbers; the multiplication of the two Clifford analytic functions can be not analytic. In 3D case, assuming the interface tends to the horizontal plane and the velocity and acceleration of the interface tends to zero spatial infinity, it is proved that the nonlinearity of the problem is essentially of cubic and higher orders. If the wave tends to zero spatial infinity, a decay rate \(1/t\) of the solution is proved. No assumptions are made concerning the height of the initial interface and the velocity field in the fluid domain. The wellposedness in 3D case is obtained with less assumptions on the initial data, compared with the 2D case.
