Let \(T_n\) denote the full transformation semigroup on \([n]=\{1,2,\dots,n\}\). \(\alpha\in T_n\) is called an orientation-preserving mapping if there exists not more than one \(i\in [n]\) such that \(i\alpha\geq (i+1)\alpha\). Let \(\text{SOP}_n\) consist of all orientation-preserving mappings \(\alpha\in T_n\) such that \(|\text{im}(\alpha)|\leq n-1\). \(\text{SOP}_n\) is the semigroup of all orientation-preserving singular mappings on \([n]\). It was shown by \textit{P. M. Catarino} and \textit{P. M. Higgins} [in Semigroup Forum 58, No. 2, 190-206 (1999; Zbl 0919.20041)] that \(\text{SOP}_n\) is idempotent-generated. The main result of the paper describes all maximal idempotent-generated subsemigroups of \(\text{SOP}_n\).
