A critical branching Wiener process \((Z_n)\) is considered which describes a system of particles combining branching properties with spatial motion. The asymptotic behaviour of \(Z_n\) in \(d\)-dimensional space is studied. In particular, \(R(n)\) denotes the largest ball around the origin which does not contain any particles at time \(n\) and \(R(\alpha,n)\) denotes the radius of the largest empty ball contained in \( B(n^\alpha)\) at time \(n\), where \(B(n^\alpha)\) denotes the ball with radius \(n^\alpha\) around the origin. The author confirms conjectures of \textit{P. Révész} [Stat. Neerl. 56, No.~2, 195--205 (2002; Zbl 1076.60075)] which concern the almost sure convergence of \({R(\alpha,n)}/{\sqrt{n\log n}}\) for \(d=2\) and \(\alpha>1/2\) and the convergence in law of \(R(n)\) for \(d\geq 3\).
