The author solves three open problems from [\textit{K.-H. Neeb}, Jpn. J. Math. 1, 291--468 (2006; Zbl 1161.22012)]. In more details, the author does the following: (1) He describes a subgroup of an infinite-dimensional Lie group, which is not an initial Lie subgroup. (2) He shows that every subgroup of a direct limit of finite-dimensional Lie groups is an initial Lie subgroup. (3) Finally, the author shows that every direct limit of finite-dimensional Lie groups is a topological group with Lie algebra (in the sense of [\textit{K. H. Hofmann} and \textit{S. A. Morris}, The Lie theory of connected pro-Lie groups. Zürich: European Mathematical Society (EMS) (2007; Zbl 1153.22006)]).
