The linearization problem for a map of a Banach space near a fixed point is to find a \(C^k\) diffeomorphism of a neighbourhood of a fixed point which sends the map to its linear part. In the paper under review, the author considers a map \(\Phi(x)=\Lambda x+ F(x)\) where \(\Lambda=D\Phi(0),\;F(0)=0\) and \(DF(0)=0\), and assumes the spectrum of \(\Lambda\) to be contained in the union of a small disc \(\{|\zeta|<b_0\}\) and a finite number of rings \(\{\chi_I<|\zeta|<b_I\}\) in the open unit disc. He then defines a gap condition of order \(k\) which controls the spacing between these rings, a band condition of order \(k\) which controls the width of the rings, as well as a \(k\)-nonresonance condition. Under these assumptions, the existence of a \(C^{k,\beta}\) linearizing diffeomorphism is established for \(\beta \) small. A quantitative estimate of \(\beta\) that depends on the size of the gaps and the widths of the bands is also given.
