Let \(D\) be a non-commutative division ring with the center \(F\). The purpose of the article under review is to generalize some known properties of maximal subgroups of \(\text{GL}_n(D)\) to maximal subgroups of some non-central normal subgroup \(N\) of \(\text{GL}_n(D)\). The main result is that if \(M\) is a maximal subgroup of \(N\) such that \(F[M]\) satisfies a polynomial identity and \(C_{M_n(D)}\setminus F\) contains an algebraic element over \(F\) or \(C_{M_n(D)}=F\) and either \(n\geq 2\) or \(n=1\) and \(M\) is not Abelian, then \(D\) is finite dimensional over \(F\).
