The authors study refinements of the Euclidean and Hermitian Clifford analysis. In this way, a new field is developed: quaternionic Clifford analysis in the \(4p\)-dimensional Euclidean space. Each Clifford analysis is characterized by its fundamental group. In the case of the Euclidean Clifford analysis in \(\mathbb{R}^m\), the fundamental group is \(\mathrm{Spin}(m)\). Moreover, in the case of the Hermitean Clifford analysis in \(\mathbb{R}^{2n}\), the unitary group \(U(n)\) acts as fundamental group. It could be shown in former works of the authors that the fundamental group underlying quaternionic Clifford analysis in \(\mathbb{R}^{4p}\) is just the symplectic group \(\mathrm{Sp}(p)\). In order to get a suitable Fischer decomposition, it is necessary to consider the decomposition of \({\mathcal H}(\mathbb{R}^{2n},\mathbb{C})\) (the space of all complex-valued \(k\)-homogeneous harmonic polynomials) into the sum \[ {\mathcal H}(\mathbb{R}^{2n},\mathbb{C})=\bigoplus_{a+b=k} {\mathcal H}_{a,b}(\mathbb{R}^{2n},\mathbb{C}) \] with complex-valued harmonic polynomials which are \(a\)-homogeneous in the variables \(z_j\) and \(b\)-homogeneous in the variables \(\overline{z}_j\). Almost the whole paper is devoted to the problem to find a decomposition of the subspaces \({\mathcal H}_{a,b}(\mathbb{R}^{2n},\mathbb{C})\) as a module for the symplectic group (in terms of (adjoint) symplectic spherical harmonics). The Howe dual pair to \(\mathrm{Sp}(p)\) is given by \(\mathrm{sl} (2,\mathbb{C})\oplus \mathrm{sl} (2,\mathbb{C})\times \mathrm{Sp}(p)\).
