The paper deals with the problem of finding common fixed points of mappings in Banach spaces under quite general conditions. The concept of non-self asymptotically quasi-nonexpansive-type mappings is introduced and an iterative sequence to converge to a common fixed point for a finite family of non-self asymptotically quasi-nonexpansive-type mappings is constructed. The presented results improve the corresponding results in the literature [see, for example, \textit{Ya.\,I.\,Alber, C.\,E. Chidume} and \textit{H.\,Zegeye}, Fixed Point Theory Appl.\ 2006, Article 10673 (2006; Zbl 1105.47057)].
