The paper is devoted to the stability of periodic solutions of the Navier-Stokes equations in unbounded domains. First the author constructs a global mild solution having a decay property. Then he shows that this mild solution can be identified locally in time with the strong solution. The stability problem can now be reduced to the investigation of the existence of a global strong solution and its asymptotic behaviour.
