This article provides the existence of solitons for critical quasilinear Schrödinger equations with periodic coefficients at infinity: \[ -\Delta u-u\Delta(u^2)+V(x)u=K(x)|u|^{c-2}u+g(x,u),\quad x\in\mathbb{R}^n,\quad u>0, \] where \(c=4n/(n-2)\) and \(g(x,\cdot)\) is subcritical. This is an extention of [\textit{J. M. B. Do Ó, O. H. Miyagaki} and \textit{S. H. Soares}, J. Differ. Equations 248, No. 4, 722--744 (2010; Zbl 1182.35205)] to more general coefficients. Using a well known nonlinear change of variable, the problem becomes semilinear with critical potential. Then, the method for proving the existence of a non vanishing \(H^1(\mathbb{R}^n)\) solution is variational. Because the equation is critical in \(\mathbb{R}^n\) compactness is a big issue. Since no Palais smale condition hold the author use pass mountain theorems together with a concentration compactness argument below some critical energy level.
