The authors introduce and study the notion of disjoint hypercyclicity: if \(T_1, \dots, T_N\) are \(N\) hypercyclic operators acting on a Fréchet space \(X\), then \(T_1, \dots, T_N\) are said to be disjoint (or \(d\)-hypercyclic) if there exists \(x\in X\) such that the set \[ \{(T_1^nx, \dots, T_N^nx)\mid n\geq 0\} \] is dense in \(X^N\). A \(d\)-hypercyclicity criterion is given and examples of \(d\)-hypercyclic \(N\)-tuples are given for powers of weighted shift operators on Hilbert spaces of sequences, and for translation and differentiation operators on the space of holomorphic functions on the complex plane.
