The authors develop an algorithm for an iterative process to solve the inverse Laplace problem in steady state heat conduction. Here, a functional is minimized in order to arrive at the unknown boundary by distorting a guessed boundary. Such problems occur in non-destructive testing where the shape of a flaw in the interior is determined by utilizing measurements on the boundary. The proposed method is illustrated by three practical example problems.
