The authors deal with the effects of cooling/heating and (or) injection/suction at certain sections of the body surface on steady laminar mixed convection flow over a vertical thin cylinder. Since the increase or reduction of wall temperature (heat flux) or mass transfer at a certain section of the surface introduces a discontinuity at the leading and trailing edges of the slot, it leads to certain difficulties in numerical solution of the governing equation. The authors solve the corresponding governing equation numerically. They show that Nusselt number and skin friction coefficient increase with positive buoyancy force and suction, but they decrease due to injection.
