Degenerations of elliptic curves and equations for cusp singularities (Q1392474): Difference between revisions

In this paper, the author describes the equations of a cusp singularity with continued fraction \([[a_1,\dots,a_n]]\), providing a minimal set of generators of the associated ideal. These equations also apply to cones over elliptic curves of degree \(n\). In the last part, he studies deformations of these equations in order to understand the versal deformation of the cusp singularity or the smoothing of the simple elliptic singularity. Some explicit computations are shown for \(n=6,8,9\).
