Some topological properties of rational polynomial maps \(f:\mathbb{C}^2 \to \mathbb{C}\) are investigated. The authors give a counterexample to one result of the paper of \textit{S. Kaliman} [Pac. J. Math. 154, No. 2, 285-296 (1992; Zbl 0723.32001)].
