The starting point of the considerations contained in this paper is the following definition: Let \(A\subset \mathbb{R}\). We shall say that \(0\) is a \(p\)-density point of \(A\) if and only if the sequence \(\{ \chi_{nA\cap [-1,1]}\}_{n\in \mathbb{N}}\) is convergent everywhere to the function \(\chi_{[-1,1]}\); \(x\in \mathbb{R}\) is a \(p\)-density point of \(A\) if and only if \(0\) is a \(p\)-density point of \(A - x\). Denote, for each \(A\subset \mathbb{R}\), by \(\Phi_{p}(A)\) the set of all \(p\)-density points of \(A\). Then one has the interesting fact: There exists a Lebesgue measurable set \(A\) such that \(\Phi_{p}(A)\) is nonmeasurable. The paper contains several properties of the operator \(\Phi_{p}\) and pointwise density topologies (generated by \(\Phi_{p}\)).
