A perfectly matched layer (PML) technique is proposed for absorbing outgoing waves described by the linearized two-dimensional Euler equations. It is shown that the theoretical reflection coefficient for linear waves at the interface between the interior domain and the PML domain is equal to zero. Thus, the present study points out an alternative approach to study numerically nonreflecting or absorbing boundary conditions for Euler equations on artificial boundaries. The author also presents some numerical examples that demonstrate the validity of the proposed PML technique.
