Instanton bundles on the projective space \(\mathbb{P}^3\) is one of the most studied classes of vector bundles. The original motivation comes from mathematical physics. They were defined as the algebraic counterpart that permitted to solve a central problem in Yang-Mills theory, a gauge theory for non-abelian groups. Instanton bundles have been also defined and studied on the flag variety of points/lines in \(\mathbb{P}^2\). In the paper under review, the authors propose a generalised notion of instanton bundle on an arbitrary polarized threefold, paying particular attention to the case of rational normal scrolls for which they give monadic presentations and prove the existence of stable instanton bundles for any admissible second Chern class.
