The authors consider the equation in \(\Omega\times(0,T),\) \[ u_{tt}- c\Delta u_t-\Delta u= 0, \] where \(\Omega\) is a bounded domain with boundary \(\Gamma= \Gamma_1\cup\Gamma_2\). Under different conditions on the two components \(\Gamma_1\) and \(\Gamma_2\) of the boundary, they express the solution \(u(t)\) in terms of a strongly continuous semigroup \(T(t)\), which is of Gevrey class \(s\geq 0\), in the sense that \[ \| T^{(n)}(t)\|\leq RC^n(n!)^s,\quad n= 0,1,2,\dots\;. \] According to the type of boundary conditions, the authors obtain analyticity of \(T\), i.e. \(s=1\), or Gevrey class with \(s>2\). -- In mathematical physics, the problem is of interest in the study of wave-structure interactions.
