Let \(W^{l,\varphi}(D)\) be the Orlicz--Sobolev spaces of order \(l\) over a set \(D\subset\mathbb{R}^n\) satisfying suitable conditions, where \(\varphi\) is a convex Orlicz function satisfying the \(\Delta_2\) condition for all arguments. First, an estimation of the error of approximation of \(v\in (W^{l,\varphi}(D))^N\) by \(Q^jv\) is obtained, where \(Q^j\) is the Taylor polynomial of degree \(j\). Next, theorems concerning stability, approximability and continuity in the spaces \((W^{l,\varphi})^N\) are obtained. In the second case, there are estimates for the \((W^{l,\varphi})^N\)-error of approximation of \(v\) by \(\Pi_hv\), where \(\Pi_h\) is an interpolation operator, e.g., the Scott--Zhang operator. The results are applied to nonlinear elliptic problems.
