The author is concerned with sharp estimates for finite element approximations to homogeneous parabolic problems with Neumann boundary condition of low regularity. The main result establishes sharp interior error estimates for the semidiscrete continuous finite element approximations. This is obtained by means of new localized \(L^\infty\) estimates for semidiscrete finite element approximations on interior subdomains. The last part of the paper contains some numerical examples that illustrate the theoretical results.
