Consider second-order half-linear differential equations of the form \[ (t^{\alpha-1} r(t)\Phi(x'))'+ t^{\alpha-1-p}s(t)\Phi(x) = 0, \] where \(\Phi(x) = |x|^{p-1} \operatorname{sgn} x\). An oscillation criterion is obtained via generalized Prüfer angle and an averaging technique. This result is new even for the intensively studied case for \(\alpha = 1\) and \(p = 2\). An illustrative example for application is given which is not covered by any previous known results.
