The authors show that, under mild conditions on the measure used in the perturbation, the spectral radius for a generalized Feynman-Kac semigroup is independent of the underlying \(L^p\)-space; the authors do not assume irreducibility of the unperturbed process nor boundedness of the function appearing in the definition of the continuous additive functional (which is only locally of zero energy in the framework of symmetric Markov processes). These results are obtained by using the gaugeability approach developed by the first author [J. Funct. Anal. 202, No. 1, 226--246 (2003; Zbl 1023.60065); in: Stochastic analysis and applications to finance. Essays in honour of Jia-an Yan on the occasion of his 70th years birthday. Hackensack, NJ: World Scientific. 55--75 (2012; Zbl 1282.60075)] in combination with recent progress on the irreducible decomposition for Markov processes proved by the third author and on the analytic characterizations of gaugeability for generalized Feynman-Kac functionals developed jointly by the second and the third author.
