With the use of the classification of the finite simple groups, it is shown that the soluble radical of a finite group \(G\) coincides with the set \[ \{g\in G:\;a,b,c\in G\text{ implies that }\langle g,aga^{-1},bgb^{-1},cgc^{-1}\rangle\text{ is soluble}\} \] (Theorem 1.1). In particular, a finite group \(G\) is soluble if and only if, in each conjugacy class of \(G\), every four elements generate a soluble subgroup (Corollary 1.3). It is pointed out that: (i) \textit{P. Flavell} [J. Lond. Math. Soc., II. Ser. 66, No. 1, 101-113 (2002; Zbl 1020.20009)], without relying on the classification of finite simple groups, has shown that a \(\{2,3\}'\)-element \(g\in G\) belongs to the soluble radical of \(G\) if and only if any four conjugates of \(g\) generate a soluble group and (ii) this result together with Burnside's \(p^aq^b\)-theorem also implies Corollary 1.3.
