Nearly all results in the study of liaison in projective space concern either codimension two subschemes or arithmetically Cohen-Macaulay subschemes. In this article we first give a new proof of a theorem of Schenzel which gives a necessary condition for two arbitrary subschemes (locally Cohen-Macaulay, equidimensional) of any codimension to be in the same liaison class. We then apply this result to certain curves in \({\mathbb{P}}^ 4\) by considering hyperplane sections: if C is a collection of skew lines in \({\mathbb{P}}^ 4\), we ask when C can be linked to another set of skew lines under the ''extreme'' conditions where C is degenerate and where C is ''general''.
