The drift-flux system is a system describing the flow of two fluids whose densities are \(\rho\) and \(n\) and whose mixed velocity \(u\) satisfies \begin{align*} \partial_t \rho +\operatorname{div} (\rho u) & = 0\\ \partial_t n +\operatorname{div}(\rho u)& = 0\\ \partial_t ((\rho + n)u) +\operatorname{div}((\rho + n)u\otimes u) + \nabla P(\rho, n) &= \mu\Delta u + (\mu + \lambda)\nabla\operatorname{div} u \end{align*} where \(\mu>0\) and \(\lambda\in \mathbb R\) are viscosities and \(P(\rho, n)\) is a pressure. This system is considered on a \(d\)-dimensional torus. It is shown that a weak solution to the system above exists for a large class of pressure laws -- even for pressures which are not monotone and which may oscillate even for large \(\rho\) and \(n\).
