The log-Sobolev inequality: \[ \mu (f^ 2 \ln | f|)\leq c\mu (| \nabla f|^ 2)+\mu (f^ 2)\ln \mu (f^ 2)^{1/2}, \] where \(\mu\) is a probability measure on (infinite-dimensional) measurable space and \(\nabla f\) is a ``natural gradient'' of f, plays an important role in Euclidean field theory and kinetic theory of the Ising model. The author proves, under a certain condition, that a Gibbs measure \(\mu\) for an infinite lattice satisfying the Dobrushin uniqueness theorem satisfies log-Sobolev inequality also.
