This paper studies the geometric properties of generalized contact pairs. Let us recall that generalized complex structures were introduced to extend the theory of classical G-structures on even-dimensional manifolds. A natural question is then the problem of uncovering the odd-dimensional counterpart of a generalized complex structure. In this paper, the author investigates the geometric conditions expressing the integrability of a generalized contact pair. In order to understand the local theory for generalized contact manifolds, she proves that locally any smooth manifold endowed with a generalized contact pair is equivalent to the product of an almost cosymplectic manifold by a generalized complex manifold. An application to string theory is also mentioned.
