This paper is concerned with the estimation of upper bounds for the Hausdorff and fractal dimensions of negatively invariant sets of maps on Riemannian manifolds. The maps which are considered are a special class of non-injective maps for which the authors introduce a factor describing the degree of non-injectivity. In applications, maps which describe actual physical systems are often non-injective. For maps like these, the ``degree of non-injectivity'' factor can be used to estimate upper bounds of fractal and Hausdorff dimensions of compact subsets.
