The authors introduce modified Hölder classes \({\mathcal F}^{\beta} = \{f : f^{\alpha}\in {\mathcal C}^{\alpha\beta}, 0 < \alpha \leq 1\}\). Sufficient conditions are found for nonnegative continuous function \(f\) on \([0,1]\) from the Hölder space \({\mathcal C}^{\beta}\) to satisfies the condition \(f^{\alpha}\in {\mathcal C}^{\alpha\beta}\), \(0 < \alpha \leq 1\). They also derive bounds on the wavelet coefficients of \(f^{\alpha}\) that provide additional insight into the local regularity of \(f^{\alpha}\). These results are applied in nonparametric statistics.
