Let \(\mathbb{H}^n\) be the \((2n+1)\)-dimensional Heisenberg group. The authors prove that, if \(n\) is odd, the pair of metric spaces \((\mathbb{H}^n, \;\mathbb{H}^n)\) does not have the Lipschitz extension property. In this paper the metric on \(\mathbb{H}^n\) is understood to be the Carnot-Carathéodory metric. A pair of metric spaces (\(X,\;Y\)) is said to have the Lipschitz extension propety if there exists a constant \(C \geq 1\) such that any Lipchitz mappping \(f:A \rightarrow Y,\;A \subset X,\) has a Lipschitz extension \(F: X \rightarrow Y\) with the propety that \(\mathrm{Lip}(F)\leq C\mathrm{Lip}(f)\), where \(\mathrm{Lip}(F)= \inf \{ L \geq 0: d_{Y}(F(x),\;F(y)) \leq L\;d_{X}(x, y)\text{ for all }x,\;y \in X \}\).
