This important paper studies mutations of quiver with potentials introduced by H. Derksen, J. Weyman, and A. Zelevinsky. The authors shows that mutations of quivers with potential yield derived equivalences between complete Ginzburg dg algebras introduced by \textit{V. Ginzburg} [Calabi-Yau algebras, \url{arXiv:math/0612139}]. With respect to previous approaches, the main new ingredient in this paper is Ginzburg's dg algebra associated to a quiver with potential. Several previous approaches have only used its homology in degree 0, namely the Jacobian algebra or vacualgebra of the physics literature. By taking into account the full dg algebra, the authors could get rid of the restrictive hypotheses that one had to impose and to prove the homological interpretation in full generality. This paper ends with an appendix by the first-named author which studies pseudo-compact derived categories of certain pseudo-compact dg algebras.
