Voiculescu's entropy and potential theory (Q639729): Difference between revisions

In [\textit{D. Voiculescu}, Commun. Math. Phys. 155, No. 1, 71--92 (1993; Zbl 0781.60006)] and [\textit{D. Voiculescu}, Invent. Math. 118, No. 3, 411--440 (1994; Zbl 0820.60001)], the logarithmic energy of a planar measure was represented as the negative of a limit of certain volumes appearing as the joint probability distribution of the eigenvalues of ensembles of random Hermitian matrices. The author presents a new proof for such a kind of large deviation results. The approach is based on polynomial inequalities and potential theory.
